Paratransit:  SamTrans Ready-Wheels

Dial-A-Ride is a service for persons with disabilities who are ADA-certified to use paratransit.  This section features information about the SamTrans Readi-Wheels service.  For more information you can visit the San Francisco Paratransit's site at http://www.samtrans.com/rw.html.

About Readi-Wheels

All of SamTrans' buses are accessible, and many persons with disabilities are able to use the regular fixed-route bus service. However, if you are unable to use fixed-route transit for some or all of your trips, you may be eligible for Redi-Wheels. This eligibility criteria comes from the Americans with Disabilities Act. If you're not sure whether you're able to use the regular bus, request an application for Redi-Wheels.

Incentives
SamTrans offers an incentive to Redi-Wheels members who are able to occasionally use fixed-route service. Redi-Wheels members displaying a valid Redi-Wheels membership card will be allowed to ride fixed-route buses during off-peak hours for only 25 cents.  Non-peak service hours are:

Before 6 AM, between 9 AM and 4 PM and after 6 p.m.  This rate is in effect all day Saturday, Sunday and Holidays.

ADA Eligibility
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, better known as ADA, is federal legislation that guarantees persons with disabilities full and equal access to the same services and accommodations that are available to people without disabilities.

The ADA requires public transit operators to provide paratransit service to persons with disabilities that is comparable to the level of fixed-route service provided. Persons with disabilities who cannot independently ride fixed-route transit may be eligible for paratransit service.
